Location: Valmiera district, Skankalne municipality, left bank of Salaca river, below Mazsalaca town;
description: Smoothest large cliff in Latvia.
Skanais kalns is characterised by unique echo effect - parabolic cliff has excellent capabilities to
reflect the sound. In different locations this phenomenon takes different shape. In some places echo
does not reach the speaker but some other point some 20 m away. You should not cry loud but speak silent
for the best effect.
